The FlowLayoutPanel control is actually pretty handy from time to time. In this article, I will explain how to enable drag and drop on two controls. I am using a custom progressbar with drag and drop enabled, so this will only show how to drop and reorder controls. As always, there is probably more than one way to solve this, but this is how I did....

Generally, launching an animation is triggered by user interaction with the same control. It is however also possible to interact with one control and then animation another control....

Update panel helps with ajax in asp.net. It registers itself with the script manager and perform a partial postback without refreshing the whole page. However at the code behind there is a full round trip of the page and control events takes place. This will be a performance hinderance if the code behind is not designed ajax friendly. So simply adding update panel not simply enhance user experience even though it keeps the page responsive.
Let us try a worst case example....

For better or for worse, the UpdatePanel control is the darling of the ASP.NET AJAX community. I say "for better" because UpdatePanel makes partial-page rendering shockingly easy and "for worse" because its simplicity and ease-of-use come at the cost of efficiency and, ironically, bandwidth....

In the web application I am currently developing there is a page which allows user's to start an off-line process. There are a number of parameters the user can configure that will effect how long each of the processes take to complete. When the system in under a typical load an operation can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes depending upon how it is configured. After the user kicks off the operation, we redirect them to a status page that contains a list of all of the finished, que...

I want to share an experience to deal with the issue of simultaneous asynchronous requests using update panel.

I faced an issue while working with multiple update panels on same page.I found that we can't perform simultaneous Asynchronous Requests using multiple update panels on same page. When we submit multiple request then last request always wins. It was quite unexpected behavior of update panel and against the Asynchronous programming models.
However, if we don't want 'Last reques...

The following key things are to be addressed:
1. It should be on the top-center of the page.
2. It should be on top of all the other HTML controls.
3. When scrolling, it should be placed on a relative position to the current scroll position....

AJAX UpdatePanel With Inline Client Scripts Parser

This control solves the problem when you need inline client scripts within an ASP.NET UpdatePanel to work. Inline scripts, to my knowledge, are not registered to the Script Manager when the "AJAX call" is made. The problem occurs if you have a UserControl, containing an inline script that is dynamically added into an UpdatePanel after an AJAX postback....

Have any of your users ever told you that after filling that long data entry form he accidentally closed the browser or moved to another page and forgot to click the save button? I heard this story more than once, and at the end my responses I often told he user something like "Well, you should pay more attention when you're filling out a form." One of the best things about Ajax is that it can do postback asyncronously but with that advantage we get one disadvatage is that since it's asynchronus and in the background, the browser will not show you any status, user will not know his status updated or not, his page and form with new data or not. With fast servers and fast methods, this is not a big problem, but whenever you have a method which takes up a bit of time, the user is very likely to get impatient. Fortunately, ASP.NET AJAX solv...

I've been having some fun playing around with the ASP.NET AJAX Beta release this weekend. Usually when I integrate AJAX functionality into my code I just end up using the built-in server controls that ASP.NET AJAX provides (UpdatePanel, UpdateProgress, etc) and the cool controls in the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit. Scott Hanselman had jokingly called using these AJAX controls "cheating" when he interviewed me two weeks ago for his latest podcast - since they don't require that you write any cl...

UFrame combines the goodness of UpdatePanel and IFRAME in a cross browser and cross platform solution. It allows a DIV to behave like an IFRAME loading content from any page either static or dynamic. It can load pages having both inline and external Javascript and CSS, just like an IFRAME. But unlike IFRAME, it loads the content within the main document and you can put any number of UFrame on your page without slowing down the browser. It supports ASP.NET postback nicely and you can have DataGri...
