Download Source Code : 559_ControlPanel.zip

This article is about how you can create a complete control panel in your application. This application will use the short keys that are used to invoke the programs contained in the control panel.

Steps you will do.

Start visual studio 2005 and create a new window application.

Drop an instance of image list from the toolbar and assign some images to this list. And set the following properties.

TransparentColor = Transparent

Images are also given in the attached file download the attached file and images to give relevant images to the programs as in the control panel.

Drop four picture box controls on the form and set their properties as below.

First picture box control.

Name = BtrnAddHW

Cursor = Hand

Size = 77, 62

SizeMode = AutoSize

Second picture box control.

Name = BtnAcc

Cursor = Hand

Size = 69, 72

SizeMode = AutoSize

Third picture box control.

Name = BtnADDSW

Cursor = Hand

Size = 72,71

SizeMode = AutoSize

Fourth picture box control.

Name = BtnUpdates

Cursor = Hand

Size = 16,72

SizeMode = AutoSize

Now open the code window and in the click event of BtrnAddHW write the following code. This code will make a call to the “Add New Hardware” program and start the program.

System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("hdwwiz.cpl")

Now open the code window and in the click event of BtnAcc write the following code. This code will make a call to the “Accessibility Options” program and start the program.

System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("access.cpl")

Now open the code window and in the click event of BtnADDSW write the following code. This code will make a call to the “Add Remove Programs options” program and start the program.

System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("appwiz.cpl")

Now open the code window and in the click event of BtnADDSW write the following code. This code will make a call to the “Automatic Updates” program and start the program.

System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("appwiz.cpl")

In this application there are only four control panel options but if you want to add more option in your application the short keys are given in the code file for form. By using those short keys you can give any option you want.
